HistoryBookTales is an independent editorial site for readers of history, historical fiction, and popular history titles. We publish reading orders, deep-dive book reviews, on-this-day-in-history features, and thematic recommendations across ancient, medieval, modern, and world-history topics. Our recommendations are written for readers who want a considered starting point, not a scraped Amazon best-seller list.
Who We Are
HistoryBookTales is published by Auburn AI, an independent Canadian digital publisher. Articles are researched and written by the Auburn AI editorial team from manufacturer documentation, published specifications, official sources and aggregated owner and expert reports. When we receive a product for review or test something ourselves, the article says so. We use AI tools to help research and draft articles; every guide is based on manufacturer specifications, listings and published owner feedback, and we don’t claim hands-on testing unless a post says a product was tested. Some products may be provided by manufacturers for review; any post covering a provided product will say so.
How We Review
Our recommendations are shaped by:
- Hands-on only when it happens. Most guides are research-based. If we test a product ourselves, the post says so and the notes reflect that actual use.
- Synthesis from multiple trusted sources. Where hands-on isn’t feasible, we cross-reference professional reviews, long-form community discussions, and manufacturer documentation, then form a considered opinion. We disclose when a recommendation is synthesis-based rather than hands-on.
- Honest trade-offs, not just praise. Every product recommendation includes what it isn’t great at, or who shouldn’t buy it. If a review reads like a sales page, we’ve failed you.
How HistoryBookTales Makes Money
We participate in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program and, where relevant, direct brand affiliate programs. When you click a product link on HistoryBookTales and buy something within the tracking window, the merchant pays us a small commission — at no additional cost to you. This is our primary funding source and is why HistoryBookTales has no subscription paywall or intrusive interstitial ads.
We may also run display advertising via Google AdSense. Ad revenue helps cover hosting, testing hardware, and the time to research and write each guide. Ads never influence what we recommend.
